Dave Matthews Band to Play at Kokua Festival 2008

We are pleased to announce that Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds will join Jack Johnson at the Fifth Annual Kokua Festival on April 19-20, 2008 at the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu, Hawaii. All proceeds from the Earth Day weekend festival will benefit the Kokua Hawai’i Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Jack and Kim Johnson to support environmental education programs in the schools and communities of Hawaii.

Other artists in the Kokua Festival line-up include Paula Fuga and Go Jimmy Go, and Brushfire Records’ latest addition, the Hawaii-born, Minneapolis-based Mason Jennings.

Summer Camp 2008 Music Festival

w00t! Summer Camp 2008 Music Festival will be coming this May 23, 24, and 25, 2008 at Three Sisters Park, Chillicothe, Illinois. The event is brought by Jay Goldberg Events & Entertainment and Jam Productions, Ltd.

And, it is already confirmed for Summer Camp 2008 performers are: moe., Umphrey’s McGee, The Flaming Lips, The Avett Brothers, Cornmeal, Groovatron, Family Groove Company and 56 Hope Road. Please do check the website for more additional performing artist during the big event.

The Countdown to Burning Man is On

Glide Magazine did a feature about Burning Man which sets off at the end of August.

I never realized that Burning Man was not considered a music festival, that they had no central booking committee. Any band that plays basically sets up their own stuff and creates their own camp or stage, it isn’t anything that was booked by the actual people that run Burning Man.

Personally I don’t know how interested I would be in attending Burning Man, I would lean much more heavily towards Bonnaroo or other festivals. While Burning Man comes off as an interesting social experiment I don’t know if it would fulfill my expectations music wise.

I figured though I would share the article and other important links about the event, just in case you are interested.

What did Variety have to say about the festival? It seems like they concur with a lot of other people when talking about the presence of John Paul Jones at the festival and him sitting in on more than one set.

The lineup for moe.down has been announced for this year. Taking place from August 31 to September 2 at the Snow Ridge ski area in Turin, NY.

Some of the announced acts for this years show is as follows:

Sound like an eclectic lineup, I am thinking about going to this depending on how grad school is going to be treating me at the time. I like the fact that the lineup has a wide range in acts and I think this bill is a perfect end to the summer.
