Archive.org Download of the Week- Conehead Buddha

by User Imageadmin on August 20th, 2007

This weeks featured download is a trip down memory lane, which will without a doubt date me. When I originally went to college there was a band called Conehead Buddha that had a pretty good sized regional following. They played a lot of the local venues and put on a highly energetic show that was usually full of their energetic fan base. Here is their own description from their website, “Originally intended as a Salsa dance band, Conehead’s sound has flourished as a showcase for Rock, Ska, Funk, Pop, Latin and Hip-Hop music.”

I totally forgot about this band as time went on and the years past but as I got into archive.org a little bit more I saw that they had some shows posted. This was a show that I actually attended while I was in school at the University of Albany, now I don’t remember the show exactly but uh, I was there…. slightly inebriated but there.

To stream the show live or download it go to the landing page here.

Recommended Songs: Well I have to be honest and say that the quality of this show isn’t the best, remember though that the show is like nine years old. Stay away from the “Darling Nikki” cover, that is just a fair warning, it was the only time they played it according to the information on taping page and you can see why.

I remember really liking the song “Swedish Girls” and their “Reggae Jam” is some inspired fun.

Wow….a band I probably never would have though about every again, if I didn’t read your blog. I got into CB about 7 or 8 years ago and turned into a fairly big fan - really liked their unique sound and style.

Thanks for refreshing my memory…I’m digging out the CD’s as I type. First track I’m going to play will be Swedish Girls.

    Cheers.
