Archive. Org Download of the Week- The Grateful Dead
Archive.org has over 2,400 show available for streaming or download of the Grateful Dead, that is a number I can’t even wrap my head around. If you downloaded a show a day and listened to it, well it would take you over six and a half years to make it through the collection.
Currently it is closed from public uploads, with the sound board versions offered in only streaming format. Audience recordings are available for download in various formats and range in quality, since I am attempting to only offer up shows that you can download for this series I have stuck with an audience recording.
Now I have to confess that I am not really a Dead fan, Jerry Garcia died my senior year of high school before I was even out of my grunge phase. While I appreciate them, they just aren’t on my list of bands to listen to on a personal level. When I listened to this show in preparation for writing this, I picked one that was well reviewed, in a format that could be downloaded, and to be honest it was palatable but not enjoyable. Yeah I write a jam band blog but don’t love the Dead, you can all start sending in your hate mail.
With that being said here is the landing page for this weeks selection, where you can stream or download the show.
Set List:
Feel Like A Stranger, Bertha, Minglewood Blues, It Must Have Been The
Roses-> Dire Wolf, Queen Jane Approximately, West L.A. Fadeaway, The
Music Nev Mississippi Half Step, Saint Of Circumstance-> Comes A
Time-> Uncle John’s Band-> Jam-> Drums-> Jam-> Goin’
Down The Road Feelin’ Bad-> Attics Of My Life-> Good Lovin’, E:
Johnny B. Goode
Recommended Listening: Uncle John’s Band is always a solid choice.
