If you only have time to listen to one track listen to:
Honestly I wasn’t a big fan of what I listened to, neither was my friend El who decided to take over review duties on this one:
In short, the Samples are reminiscent of every single band that probably got banned from Seattle in the early 1990’s. Despite the fact that their tank tops and dirty jeans stills are up to par, what they lack in musical ability does not make up for it. The beginning of their songs are somewhat baroque in nature, however, one cannot do Baroque with a guitar unless your name is Sebastian Bach and your hair has it’s own gravitational field. But that’s a story for another time. Particularly in “Feel Us Shaking” which is an attempt to tell a nautical story, oddly mirroring a poem I heard one of my class mates read in second grade. Rhyme scheme and all. “I’d like to stay but I couldn’t stay with you, I have to go, I have a lot I want to do.” Because “I have a lot I want to do” is always a great reason. In short, save your bandwidth and go listen to some clips of Paris Hilton singing. Musically, you actually might get more out of it.
What do you think about The Samples?
