If you only have time to listen to one track listen to: Smoother Than Usual
People of Earth have a self described sound that is influenced by “funk, jazz, disco, bluegrass, improvisation, and up to four part vocal harmonies.” Which leads to an inventive and imaginative mix, that I was just plain old fun to listen to.
“Smoother Than Usual” was the first song that I heard from them and you can without a doubt see the funk and disco influence on their music. This song was a fun jam that I listened to a few different times while reading up on the band. It is my recommended track from them. “A Good Day” is a shift in style from “Smoother Than Usual” that leans towards their bluegrass influences.
Overall every song featured on their page was an enjoyable listen, also I was happy to find out that their shows are available for download at archive.org. Also they announced at the end of June that they are in the studio finishing up their new album, which I am excited to hear, I really liked their different sound and style.
