When I landed on this page I kind of had a bad feeling, I saw the Bluegrass category and that they were from Nashville. Automatically in my head I hear very twangy music, which is something I am not a big fan of. Some bands that influenced by bluegrass I can get into but when it leans heavily onto almost a full out country kick, it just isn’t my thing.
My fears were realized when the song Mountain Man began to play, the voice of the singer is very country. I wasn’t a fan of the song and just felt like I stumbled on a country band trying to change up what they are. However I was presently surprised at some of the other tracks, the style does change up and shows their ability to play a diverse type of music.
However, like eating a grapefruit and then brushing your teeth, the taste in my mouth was still soiled from the first song. These guys can play, there is no doubt in that, it just isn’t something that I was into.
