A Hammond B3 Organ, a bass, and drums is enough to provide you with a wall of sound, which Big Organ Trio provides you in spades. Their instrumental pieces bring as much power, range, and tone that any band with a lead singer could, their music is nuisanced enough to where you don’t even notice the lack of lyrics.
They offer up a unique sound that I really enjoyed and listened to for awhile when writing this up. As you go through their offerings on their myspace page you can hear the various influences that impact the band, anywhere from jazz, to a lounge style, to rock, to blues, and to a pure funk. Just comparing the songs Diva Mode and Organ Grinder you can see the range in this band and their sound.
On tour this summer they will be in Arizona, Minnesota, Chicago, and Denver, before finishing out back here in LA at their home base of O’Briens.
