If you only have time to listen to one track listen to: Breathe
In reading up on Stellar Road they seem to have been road warriors the last couple of years playing anywhere and everywhere in order to build an audience and get money to record their first album. The tracks that they have on their MySpace are pretty good, they are produced and slick, almost to the point of being overproduced.  I would really like to see a live track mixed in there to see how they play on stage.

My Love For Archive.org

My Love For Archive.org

I am sure at this point I am not telling anyone new this but just in case you don’t know about archive.org, I want to make sure it is a page you visit often.
Archive.org is an internet archive site, I know not at all that exciting right? Hold on a second though, it contains thousands of shows from bands that allow taping rights, with acts ranging from the Grateful Dead to O.A.R. to Mike Doughty to My Morning Jacket to Umphrey’s McGee and so on. To see an entire list of the artists that you can find on the site, …read more

My Favorite Concert Venues- Number 2

My Favorite Concert Venues- Number 2

With the summer music season in full swing, I was discussing with my friends what our favorite venues were. Our discussion ran the gamut from stadiums to amphitheaters to small clubs, with everyone chiming in on what they liked and why.
I figured that I would share a few of my favorites and have you share a few of yours. To give this some sort of build up I decided to do it top five style here were the previous four:
5) The House of Blues (Hollywood)
4) Wiltern Theatre
3) Water Street Music Hall
and now for number 2..
My Favorite Southern California Venue- Santa …read more

If you only have time to listen to one track listen to: Changin
A high energy band funk type band, Kinetix reminds me of Maroon 5… So depending on your stance on Maroon 5 that is a huge compliment or an insult. In listening to the songs they have made available on their MySpace page I found “Get Up” a little repetitive but I liked it a whole lot in comparison to “Spinning Out”.
The best track on their page is “Changin” which shows some good musical skills. This is a band I would like …read more

If you only have time to listen to one track listen to: Number 6 LIVE TRACK
When I landed on this page I kind of had a bad feeling, I saw the Bluegrass category and that they were from Nashville. Automatically in my head I hear very twangy music, which is something I am not a big fan of. Some bands that influenced by bluegrass I can get into but when it leans heavily onto almost a full out country kick, it just isn’t my thing.
My fears were realized when the …read more

Some articles I won’t get to but want to share

In going through and looking for different things to write about I will come across stories that I bookmark and never really get a chance to expand upon for whatever reason. Every couple of weeks I like to clear out these stories so they don’t get old and just share them instead of really expanding upon them. Here are a few stories that I just haven’t gotten to yet:
An interview with Project Greenfield- An interview with percussionist Tim Cuny, talking about their second CD release, Spiral Path.
Clif Bar offers a green travel cheat sheet- An article about the company GreenNotes, …read more
